Memorial - Celebration of Life

What to wear:

It is usually hot in June, so bring light clothing with a sweater or jacket for the mornings.  Wearing black at the Cemetery or Church Service is optional.  Shirley wore conservative colorful outfits instead, especially in church.  Consider bringing a comfortable change of clothes to slip on after the church service.

Parking:

Jacksonville is a small historic gold mining town.  It is very busy in June with visitors.  Parking spaces are limited.  If you want your vehicle next to the Jacksonville Community Center for most of the day, you need to park there right after coming back from the burial of the urns ceremony at the cemetery.  It is a 5 minute walk to the historic Presbyterian Church for breakfast snacks and the Memorial service.  We have permission to park large RVs in the parking lot of the newer Presbyterian Church (NOT the historic Presbyterian Church).  There is nowhere on the streets in the town of Jacksonville to park large RVs.

• Medford and Central Point:

  • Medford Railroad Park: 49 acre outdoor train museum and train rides from 11a-3p

  • Rogue Valley Family Fun Center: go karts, mini golf, arcade 12p-8p

  • Children's Museum of So. Oregon: hands on activities for kids under 8.  Friday 10a-4p

  • Picnic at any of the 28 local parks with playgrounds, water play areas, basketball

  • Bowling: Roxyann Lanes or Lava Lanes

  • Ice skating: RRRink

  • Rogue River Scenic Float or Rapid Run 

  • Applegate Lake (swimming or picnicking)

  • Hike the Upper or Lower Table Rock Mountains
